you can fail at what you don t want
Even that is on pause, because the truth is, we fail at the things that don’t make us happy. We fail at what we don’t want to do because we don’t want to do it. The thing that we are most scared of is failure and the fear of failure is something that most people struggle with. The idea that fear of failure might lead us to avoid the things we would rather have is a myth.
Most people that want to avoid failure are the people that never do anything. They are the people that never go on a road trip with their friends no matter how many times they have to say “no” to their parents. They are the people that never get on a plane that has to take off. They are the people that don t go on a date and think of it as a date. They are the people that have never gone on a first date.
This is why a lot of introverts feel better about themselves when they succeed. They have a sense of accomplishment. They can feel like they have accomplished something. The introverts and extroverts who do things that they don t want, that they feel they can get away with, get the most enjoyment out of life. They feel strong, empowered and successful. I think this is what makes introverts and extroverts so similar to each other in the first place.
The two people that I’ve known that were able to succeed at what they wanted, they were both involved in the art world. They weren’t artists, as many of the introverts I’ve known feel, but they were able to work in the field of painting. They were able to work their butts off at their trade, and it was a lot of fun.
The thing about introverts is that they tend to take things personally. They get tired of being the “other” and the “loner” in their group. They want to be the guy who gets to say, “this is what I want you to do, so do it.” I know this is what I want to do, but lately I just feel like this is not the right place for me to be.
You can fail at what you don’t want. This may sound a little crazy, because it is, but that’s basically what happens when you don’t take the time to step back and take a breath and stop and think about your motives. You start to think, Why am I doing this, why am I doing this? And then you start to think about how you feel about your motives or lack of them.
In the case of failure, we are not at fault for it. We are in control of our own actions. The problem is when we fail to exercise the same level of awareness that we did before. When we don’t take the time to stop and think about it, our actions just become automatic and we don’t even know why we are doing them.
In the same way that we don’t know why we are smoking cigarettes, we don’t know why we are eating fast food, or why we are taking drugs. We only know that we are doing them because they felt right.
The problem with failing at something you want to do is that you have no control over what you are doing. It is an easy way to make an “unintentional” mistake that will later prove to be a massive mistake later. You may not realize you are doing something that is making you sick and you may feel like you are doing something because you really want to, but at the end of the day, you are just doing something for no good reason.
