continuity psychology
The concept of continuity psychology was created by psychologist Abraham Maslow in his late 50s. It’s a way of looking at how people with a mental health condition experience the world. Self-awareness, that is, the awareness of one’s awareness, is a hallmark of the mental health condition. It’s also one of the key concepts that helps us understand how people with mental health conditions function in the world.
I like to think of continuity psychology as a way of looking at how the mind works and can function, not to be a cure for mental illness. I would like to think that, rather than creating a cure, we should look at how we can improve the quality of our lives by better understanding how our minds work and function.
On this particular point, the “cure” is that we are able to build a belief system that says, “This place is mine.” It was made for a reason; it was meant to be used to help people out.
In most continuity psychology models, the belief system is the driving reason why this place was created in the first place. This belief system often becomes the primary motivation of the actions that we take in life. So a lot of the time we’re not even aware we’re doing it, because we’re operating under a belief system that says, “This place is my home. It was meant to be used to help people out.
Not so with our “belief system” in continuity psychology. The belief system in continuity psychology is only a small part of a person’s motivation, and is only really a conscious idea of how the person thinks about the world. When most people say they want a “new house,” they are actually stating that they want the house to be a new house.
The good news is that this is a change in the belief system in continuity psychology, which does not mean that the reality of the person’s beliefs will change. It only means that the belief system will likely change.
Our focus in the development of the book is on whether we can get the book to print in the end. The book’s title makes no sense if you’re trying to create a new movie or TV series. The book is now about a new movie. What does it mean to be a new movie in the first place? It means that the movie will be a new movie. When you stop working on a movie, you’re working on another movie. The book is about movies.
So we don’t really want to stop working on the actual book, we want to keep working on the movie. We want to keep working on the movie because it’s still a long way from being done, and besides, why stop working on it now? The idea is to keep the work flowing.
In the book, Chris Baker uses the term continuity psychology. This is a concept that I found really interesting. The idea is that we tend to think of movies as being ongoing stories, and that as we work on a movie, we are constantly updating the story and moving it from scene to scene. The book, though, is about a new movie. We dont really want to stop working on the actual book, we want to keep working on the movie.
This is, of course, very different from the traditional way of thinking about movies. For example, a movie gets more and more detailed with each passing year. But the book stays the same. If we want to stay on track with the continuity of the book, we need to keep going back and editing the book as we go.
